Watch Roy Jones Jr. Get KO’d By Glen Johnson (VIDEO)
In September of 2004, Glen Johnson shocked the world by knocking out Roy Jones Jr.
Jones had a record of 49-2 coming into the fight, and he was viewed by many as the greatest pound of pound fighter in the sport. However, Jones was also looking to rebound from a TKO loss to Antonio Tarver four months earlier.
This fight could have played out in one of two ways. If Jones won, he would’ve been back on track, and the loss to Tarver would’ve been viewed as an anomaly. On the other hand, if Jones lost he would be seen as over the hill. As it turns out Jones not only lost, but he lost in devastating fashion. Johnson threw a left-right combination in the ninth round that sent Jones crashing to the mat. Since the knockout, Roy Jones Jr. has a career record of 7-5. So it’s safe to say this knockout was the beginning of the end for Roy Jones Jr.
