Watch Andy Roddick’s Retirement Speech (VIDEO)
After losing to Juan Manuel Del Potro at the 2012 U.S Open, Andy Roddick is officially retired from the ATP tour.
The 30-year had a solid career for over a decade even though he’s always been in the shadow of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Given how great those two players have been, there’s no shame in that.
Roddick will also be remembered for his colorful life away from the court. Roddick dated Mandy Moore for a long time, and he’s now married to Brooklyn Decker.
Even Vinny Chase is impressed.
Watch Roddick reflect on his career and on his retirement after the jump.
Even though Roddick only won a single major tournament in his career (2003 U.S Open), he has still been a consistent winner for the past decade. He’s also been the best American player on the ATP tour for the past decade.
I guess the question now becomes, what do you do when you are retired at 30? Most people are trying to organize a career at 30, this guy is retired with a supermodel wife. I’ve heard of “Freedom 55” but this is ridiculous.
On a side note, Bernard Tomic has now assumed the top spot for tennis players with good looking wives/girlfriends.
