Raptors Rookie Terrence Ross Wins 2013 NBA Dunk Contest (HIGHLIGHTS)

Terrence Ross has been exciting Raptors fans all season with thunderous dunks, and on Saturday, the rookie put his skills on full display at the 2013 Dunk Contest.

Raptors fans across the country are in full blown celebration mode right now because success is in rare supply around these parts. In fact, Toronto fans have grown much more familiar with the feeling of defeat, embarrassment, and ineptitude. Think about it, the Raptors have only advanced past the first round of the playoffs once in their history. They haven’t been to the playoffs since 2007, and the franchise is best known for losing its superstars. That’s why basketball fans in Canada are excited. On Saturday night, Terrence Ross breathed some positivity into a franchise that desperately needs it.

Here are all four of Terrence Ross’s dunks. My favorite is the off the backboard 360 at the one minute mark. In the words of Chuck Swirsky, it’s sick, wicked, and nasty…

Vince Carter put the Raptors franchise on the map at the Dunk Contest in 2000, and it’s been downhill ever since. Tracy McGrady left in the off-season after the 2000 campaign, Vince Carter left four years later, Chris Bosh left six years later.

When you consider the misery Raps fans have dealt with for the past 15 years, you can understand why people are excited about Ross’s performance. For the first time in a long time, the Raptors franchise was put in the spotlight for all the right reasons. It’s an unfamiliar feeling for Raps fans. Here are the rest of the 2013 NBA Dunk Contest highlights courtesy of the Huffington Post…
