Nike Releases New “Bones Knows” T-Shirt, Jon Jones Is Impressed (PIC)
Jon Jones recently signed an endorsement contract with Nike, and he tweeted out a picture of his first t-shirt featuring the slogan “Bones Knows.”
“#Nike only made 80 signature T-shirts for UFC 151, I absolutely cannot wait to bless my fans, talk about #exclusive” -Jon Jones via Twitter.”
I don’t really see how a t-shirt will bless his fans, but I can understand why he’s so excited. Getting your name on a Nike product is a big accomplishment for any athlete.
With this shirt, Nike is continuing their trend of trying to represent winners across all sports. After Lebron James won his first NBA title, he was wearing an extremely ironic“Earned Not Given” Nike t-shirt within minutes. When the U.S women’s soccer team won Olympic gold, they all had “Greatness Has Been Found” t-shirts before the ref’s whistle finished blowing.
While I admire Nike for getting in bed with an MMA fighter, why couldn’t they come up with a more original marketing slogan? This is clearly a rip off of Nike’s “Bo Knows” campaign with Bo Jackson.
When you consider the fact that Nike’s agreement with Jon Jones is the first of its kind, it’s pretty ironic that the slogan they chose is anything but.
Be more original in future Nike. Just do it.
