Errant Free Kick From Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks A Child’s Arm (VIDEO)
Controversy seems to follow Cristiano Ronaldo everywhere he goes, and he always seems to find new and unique ways of drawing attention.
With this in mind, you’ll be interested to hear that Cristiano Ronaldo broke the arm of a small child…But hold your judgment for a moment, here’s the details courtesty of Total Pro Sports…
During a recent exhibition match between Ronaldo’s Real Madrid and AFC Bournemouth of the second-tier English Football League Championship, Ronaldo took a free kick from 35 yards out that went wide of the goal and hit an 11-year-old kid named Charlie Silverwood. Luckily the boy was able to get his hands up in front of his face, but the force of the impact caused a double fracture to his wrist. The kid stayed for the remaining 84 minutes of the match (because he’s a lot tougher than actual soccer players), but he later had to have surgery and he’ll have his arm in a sling for the rest of the summer.
So what did Ronaldo do? Well, when he heard about the extent of the lad’s injuries, he sent him a signed jersey.
This seems like the soccer version of Marie Antoinette’s “let them eat cake.” I can just hear the conversation now…
“Hey Cristiano, did you hear that your free kick hit a child, and broke his arm?”
“…Send him a jersey.”
